Multi-instrumentalist Clint Baker has long been a notable member of the Northern California jazz community since forming his New Orleans Jazz Band in 1990.
Whether appearing at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival or performing by special invitation from legendary trombonist Frank Demond alongside Willie and Percy Humphrey, Baker continues to bring traditional jazz to audiences nationwide.
Clint Baker’s New Orleans Jazz Band performed at the prestigious Monterey Jazz Festival in 1999, one of the few traditional jazz bands ever to play there, joining the ranks of Louis Armstrong and Jack Teagarden. The band now tours festivals in the US and Canada extensively, and was voted one of the top five Favorite New (Emerging) Jazz Bands in the Mississippi Rag Trad Jazz and Ragtime Poll.
Clint Baker's New Orleans Jazz Band was founded in 1990 and began playing at Cafe
Borrone in Menlo Park in October 1990. Although continuing to play there as the Café
Borrone All-Stars, the New Orleans Jazz Band became inactive in 2000 when the birth of Baker's twins exacted extensive parenting duties from Clint. In 2006 the band regrouped due to many requests from the Bay Area swing dance community. Since then the band has been very active playing swing venues around the San Francisco Bay Area and northern California.
Highlights of Clint Baker’s New Orleans Jazz Band’s career include appearing at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in 1992 and performing by special invitation from legendary trombonist Frank Demond to play at his home alongside Willie and Percy Humphrey. In 1999 Clint Baker’s New Orleans Jazz Band performed at the prestigious Monterey Jazz Festival, one of the few traditional jazz bands ever to perform at this world-renowned festival, joining the ranks of Louis Armstrong and Jack Teagarden. The band tours festivals in the US and Canada extensively and was voted one of the top five Favorite New (Emerging) Jazz Bands in the 1998 Mississippi Rag Trad Jazz and Ragtime Poll. (In the same poll Clint was voted one of the top three Favorite New (Emerging) Musicians.)
